About
Dayspring
Founded in August 2022, Dayspring Academy provides education to 104 refugee students in grades 1 through 7, with plans for further expansion to include all levels of primary and secondary education. We are situated in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods of Cairo, an area marked by significant economic hardships and limited educational resources.
Dayspring partners with families to provide a transformative education, cultivate a Biblical worldview, and prepare students for improved opportunities in life.

Our Mission
Our desire is for our students to not only flourish academically but also encounter the gospel through each chapel, prayer time, and interaction with Christ-following, devoted faculty and staff.

Our Students
All of our students are from refugee families who have escaped war, religious persecution, or other harrowing situations. Consequently, they’ve often experienced substantial educational gaps when first entering our doors.
With long breaks in schooling coupled with limited access to proper education, the majority come unable to read or write in any language, and some even struggle to write their own names.

Our Approach
To address these significant gaps in learning, Dayspring has applied a multifaceted solution. We’ve implemented longer school hours, with 7 hours of pure instruction compared to the average 4.5 hours of other centers. In addition, our earlier grades emphasize the core academic foundation of literacy and numeracy to help prepare students for greater class diversification in later grades. Lastly, we provide remedial tutoring for students who are falling behind their peers.

Our Faculty
With a teacher to student ratio of 8:1, our faculty devote themselves to the growth of our students. We employ qualified, local Sudanese and South Sudanese teachers as well as bring in international educators to create a dynamic team.
We host regular teacher workshops to keep our faculty up to date on the latest teaching techniques and methods and to pray together for our students.

Our Curriculum
With English as our language of instruction, we utilize a hybrid of international and Sudanese curriculum to set our students with a firm academic foundation while simultaneously preparing them for the South Sudanese embassy’s certification exams (administered at grades 8 and 12). If the students pass the South Sudanese embassy’s certification exam, they receive a certificate that then allows them to enroll in Egyptian universities and continue higher education if they would choose to do so.

Our Programs
In conjunction to our robust academic programs, we believe in holistic development of our students. With weekly classes for PE, art, and music, we ensure that our students are given opportunities to discover and develop their God-given gifts.
Not limiting ourselves to internal initiatives, we also organize community service events to cultivate an outward mindset among our students to serve our neighbors.

Our Impact
Today, we’re seeing our students grow more confident in their academic skills to experience the joy of learning.
Our students leave each school day at Dayspring with a sense of hope and purpose that empowers them to overcome the many adversities that they experience. Above all else, our students and families are witnessing transformation in their lives through the gospel.
